Jeff is an experienced IP attorney with a background in engineering, military service, and trial work. A regular columnist, Jeff is currently writing a series on the legal issues, including patent and copyright issues, of using artificial intelligence like ChatGPT. Jeff is a cofounder of www.justcites.com, built and coded for lawyers so they don’t have to flip through tables in the back of The Bluebook®. Jeff brings the unique perspective of having tried a wide variety of cases before both juries and judges across the world. He has served as lead trial counsel in trials in federal district court, state court, military court, and the U.S. International Trade Commission. Fascinated by AI, Jeff enjoys helping clients navigate through this frontier.

Larry Sandell is an experienced IP strategist, patent attorney, litigator, and appellate advocate, with a technical focus that includes software, blockchain, and now AI. As IP law catches up to the AI age, Larry is applying his skills and expertise to helping clients not only manage AI-related risk, but position themselves to thrive in this brave new world. (Eager to experiment with new AI tech applications, Larry’s hobbies include using ChatGPT and DALL-E to write and illustrate love poems to his wife and stories for his young children.)

Jed Weiner is Head of Corporate at boutique DC law firm Mei & Mark LLP, known for its intellectual property practice. He is also founder of grIP Venture Studio (www.gripventure.com). Jed spent eight years at international law firms Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Simpson Thacher. In addition, Jed worked as in-house counsel for an automotive startup and private equity portfolio company. Jed’s practice currently focuses on private placements, M&A transactions, commercial transactions, cross-border operations, and distribution channels. Jed is a graduate of NYU School of Law. Jed also received an MPhil from St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, and served as an intelligence officer (LCDR) in the U.S. Navy.
