K. Kevin Mun, a registered patent attorney, practices all aspects of Intellectual Property Law, with a primary focus on patent litigation, patent prosecution, and strategic client counseling. Dr. Mun’s technical experience spans a variety of technical fields, including LCD and OLED displays, LEDs, integrated circuits, semiconductors, telecommunications, automotive, nuclear, internet, and medical devices. He has litigated numerous patent cases before the federal district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission involving various technology areas. In addition, he has extensive experience in rendering legal opinions on patentability, patent infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate. Dr. Mun also regularly advises clients on various issues relating to IP transactions, such as IP due diligence, procurement, contract drafting, and licensing strategy.
Prior to joining Mei & Mark LLP, Dr. Mun headed an IP licensing firm in Virginia, where he led various patent licensing, acquisition, and enforcement projects and managed over several hundreds of patent assets. He also practiced patent law at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Mun has served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined domestic and PCT applications in the areas of nuclear reactions, firearms, ordnance, ammunition, and explosives. He was also a licensing and review examiner, reviewing patent applications pertaining to government property rights and national security matters.
Dr. Mun received a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, where his graduate research focused on nuclear reactor safety, thermal-hydraulics, and numerical analysis.
