Jeff Pearson is an experienced trial attorney, having tried a wide variety of cases before both juries and judges. He has served as lead trial counsel in trials in many jurisdictions, including federal district court, state court, military court, and federal administrative court. Mr. Pearson’s extensive litigation experience and technical background allow him to provide a full range of intellectual property services, including both patent prosecution and complex litigation.
Before joining Mei & Mark LLP, Mr. Pearson taught law at the Naval Justice School in Newport, RI, where he trained attorneys on trial advocacy, criminal procedure, and the rules of evidence. Prior to serving in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Pearson concentrated primarily on patent prosecution and litigation. He worked as a law clerk and patent agent at IP firms—Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP in Washington, DC and Dority & Manning, P.A. in Greenville, SC before receiving his juris doctor from George Washington University.
Mr. Pearson began his law practice in the U.S. Navy, providing legal advice to thousands of clients on both civil and criminal matters. He has tried cases both as a prosecutor and a defense counsel. After several years of litigating cases, he served as a lead counsel to military commanders overseas, advising on all matters with a majority of his practice dedicated to international law. Mr. Pearson is a veteran of foreign wars, having served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
His engineering experience includes work on gas turbines at General Electric as part of GE’s Early Identification Program. He also graduated magna cum laude with honors from Clemson University’s College of Engineering and Science, where he completed his undergraduate thesis: The Development and Investigation of a Capillary Pump Cooling System for NASA’s Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket Engine.
